The No. 1 Clemson Tigers will play the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide in the College Football Playoff semifinal game.

That semifinal game will be played in the Sugar Bowl.

It goes without saying that Clemson and Alabama have been the gold standard in college football the last several years, and this semifinal matchup should be spectacular.

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney joined ESPN Sunday to discuss playing the Tide again.

“Excited. Obviously, Alabama has been the standard for a long time,” Swinney said. “It’s been 25 years since I’ve been to the Sugar Bowl, and that was at Alabama.

“It’s only fitting to advance to Atlanta with the ahead-to-head matchup of Clemson-Alabama. It should be a heckuva matchup.”

No. 2 Oklahoma and No. 3 Georgia will play in the other semifinal game in the Rose Bowl.
