LSU took it on the chin last year with a 37-7 loss against Mississippi State, and the Tigers haven’t forgotten how that unfolded.

RB Nick Brossette, for example, is using it this week in preparations. The Bulldogs outscored the Tigers 20-0 in the second half. Derrius Guice was held to 76 yards, and LSU was 3-for-13 on third down. The Bulldogs rang up 465 yards in the win.

“We’re going to bring that up, we’re going to use that as motivation,” Brossette said. “We got the crap beat out of us. I remember that game, and I’m probably going to watch it and everything else. They just had way more energy than us, more intensity, so we have to match it. They had a bye last week, so they’re going to be ready to go, and I’m excited for the opportunity.”

That was a rare win in the series for the Bulldogs, though they also won in 2014. But outside of those wins, Mississippi State’s last win in the series was 1999.

Coming off the upset win over Georgia, it’ll be interesting to see how LSU responds from an emotional victory now facing a divisional opponent.

LSU will play host to Mississippi State at 6 p.m. local time on Saturday on ESPN.
