The University of Alabama landed its 12th commitment Tuesday night when 4-star linebacker Kendrick Blackshire made his verbal pledge.

Blackshire is listed at 6-2, 245 pounds and rated 4-stars, the No. 7 inside linebacker, No. 26 recruit in Texas and No. 152 prospect overall nationally on the 247Sports Composite. He chose to commit to the Crimson Tide over finalists LSU, Texas A&M, Baylor, Oklahoma and Illinois. He also received scholarship offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi State, Missouri and Tennessee.

Blackshire missed his junior season due to an ACL injury. Prior to transferring to Duncanville, Blackshire played for Mesquite Horn in Texas.

The thing that jumps out immediately about Blackshire is his massive size. At 245 pounds, he moves very well for his size. He’ll be a big defensive addition for Nick Saban’s defense.
