Alabama sharpshooter John Petty Jr. now has a place to himself in the Crimson Tide record books. Petty made his 264th career 3-pointer in a game Saturday afternoon against Arkansas as the Tide rolled to a big lead.

By late in the second half, Petty had 17 points, and was 5-for-9 shooting from 3-point land, to go with four rebounds and an assist. He was 6-for-10 from the field. Petty came into Saturday four shy of breaking the career record of 263 by Brian Williams from 1996-99.

Petty came into the game averaging 13.3 points per game, which was second on the team, along with 5.4 rebounds per game, also second on the Tide. He’s shooting 35.6 percent from 3 this season. He leads the team in minutes played per game at 31.2 minutes per game. Earlier this week, Petty led the Tide with 23 points in a win over Kentucky.

The crowd in Coleman Coliseum gave Petty a standing ovation for the accomplishment.
