Gus Malzahn continues to assemble his UCF coaching staff.

Hours after announcing a former Auburn analyst would coach UCF’s special teams and tight ends, Malzahn announced that former Arkansas analyst GJ Kinne will be the Knights’ co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

Kinne started his college playing career at Texas, committing to the Longhorns in December of 2006. He transferred to Tulsa but had to sit out the 2008 season due to transfer rules. Malzahn was on staff at Tulsa in 2007 and ’08 before he took the offensive coordinator position at Auburn ahead of the 2009 season.

After playing professionally in the NFL (2012-15) and CFL (2016), Kinne got into coaching, joining Chad Morris, his former offensive coordinator at Tulsa, at SMU. Kinne followed Morris to Arkansas, taking an analyst position on the Razorback staff.

Kinne was an offensive assistant for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2019 but returned to college football for the 2020 season, serving as offensive coordinator at Hawaii under head coach Todd Graham, who coached him at Tulsa.
