A pair of SEC teams remain in the mix to land an elite safety of Beaumont (West Brook), Texas in Bryce Anderson after he updated his top five teams on Saturday.

Anderson, a former LSU commit, narrowed his list of 40 offers to five as one of the fastest players in the country listed LSU, Michigan, Texas, Texas A&M and Southern Cal. Anderson has reportedly already run 10.5 in the 100-meter dash this season after he went 10.79 as a sophomore. He is rated the No. 4 safety in the Class of 2022, and the No. 61 player overall by the 247Sports Composite.

Anderson had a Zoom with the Aggies this week as coach Jimbo Fisher and their staff continue to make their pitch.

“They’ve been telling me scheme and how it fits and it’s close to home and stuff like that,” Anderson told 247Sports.

Things have changed since his decommitment from Ed Orgeron’s program.

“LSU they’re recruiting me harder since I decommitted and they text me and are calling me every day,” Anderson said. “I already know their schemes and stuff and how they play and I’m ready to see what the new DC does.”

Here is the 247Sports scouting report of Anderson:

“Requisite frame for high-major DB prospect,” 247Sports National Analyst Gabe Brooks wrote in his evaluation. “Looks and plays taller and longer than listed size. Dynamic athlete with verified track speed. Speed manifests on the field. Has played both ways as dual-threat QB and DB, but long-term fit is in the secondary. Could provide versatility thanks to athleticism, instincts, and awareness. Capable in man coverage, but also terrific covering territory as a deep safety. Agile and fluid in the short area with great top-end speed. Will need to continue to gain size to maximize functional strength and tackling ability. Honing technical skills in coverage will make terrific athleticism that much more dangerous. One of the top defensive prospects in Texas for 2022. Projects to Power 5 level with long-term potential to become valuable multi-year starter.
