For those who watched last year’s game between Alabama and Ole Miss, you know what to expect Saturday: points, a lot of them, coming from both teams.

The No. 1 Crimson Tide and No. 12 Rebels are set to face off in Tuscaloosa, and ahead of the matchup, former Alabama safety and current SEC Network analyst Roman Harper previewed the contest during an appearance on “The Paul Finebaum Show” on Friday.

“Alabama turned the football over, or they had empty possessions offensively, and for me, big-picture-wise, just going straight out with it, this is going to be a possession game,” Harper said on the show. “As many possessions that you create for your own offense, whether it’s Ole Miss or Alabama, by either making them turn the football over, or creating punts, or getting off the field on third down, that will be the team that will win.

“It’s going to be a high-scoring event. You don’t plan on saying, we don’t go into this game saying, ‘Guys, we’re going to shut this team out. We’re going to only let them get this many points.’ No, it’s, ‘How many more times can I get our offense the ball back on the field?’ Whether you’d rather give up a one-play, 80-yard drive to Ole Miss, vs. giving up a 10- or 12-play drive and now you’re a little more tired. They beat you with tempo and some other things. You’d rather just give up the touchdown because the main goal, at the end of the day, is always get your offense back on the field.”

While Alabama is entering the matchup as the favorite, it’s possible that Ole Miss will be capable of pulling off an upset. The Rebels played a competitive game in last year’s meeting, before the Crimson Tide pulled away for a 63-48 victory.

Alabama and Ole Miss are set to kick off on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
