Josh Heupel knows there is more to life than football. But, football also allows people to interact who maybe wouldn’t interact otherwise.
The current Tennessee and former UCF head coach was put in the unfortunate position of having to eulogize one of his former players on Tuesday — ex-UCF star RB Otis Anderson Jr.
Anderson’s father faces second-degree murder charges after Anderson Jr. was shot and killed less than 2 weeks ago. Anderson Jr.’s mother was also shot in the incident.
As you can see below, Heupel was on hand for the funeral and gave a touching, emotional eulogy to Anderson, who made a big impact on his coach’s life:
Here's the second half from Heupel. Really kind of him to fly into Jacksonville to honor the life of Otis Anderson Jr. and talk about him.

During his UCF career, Anderson had 2,182 rushing yards and 17 rushing touchdowns. He also had 1,025 yards and 9 receiving touchdowns.
However, his legacy will be much more than those numbers, as it’s clear he made an impact on Heupel and many others who crossed his path.
