Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian announced that Alabama transfer Jahleel Billingsley is still serving a suspension for something he did at Alabama, and that he still has five games remaining in the suspension.

That means the former Alabama tight end will not play against his former school next weekend in Austin.

“Something he did at Alabama” is very likely NCAA-related. Billingsley transferred away from Alabama following the 2021 season, reuniting with former Crimson Tide offensive coordinator Sarkisian. He was set to be a force at Texas, but cannot return until the Longhorns’ Oct. 15 matchup against Iowa State.

For those running through the schedule in their heads, that means Billingsley will miss the Red River Showdown with No. 9 Oklahoma by one week.
