Auburn football is looking rough near the midway point of the regular season.

The Tigers lost to Georgia 42-10 on Saturday, all but rolling over for the defending National Champions. The Tiger have now lost 3 of their last 4.

The chatter to fire head coach Bryan Harsin has been there since the beginning of the season, if not earlier. But it’ll cost the Tigers to fire Harsin at this point in the year.

Were he to be fired by Auburn soon, Harsin would be owed $15 million according to ESPN. He signed a 6-year, $31.2 million deal when he was first hired by the university in 2020.

The below excerpt is via ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg, who first reported the details in 2021.

“If Auburn fires Harsin without cause, it will owe the coach 70% of his remaining salary through the contract term, half of which will be paid within 30 days of termination. The remaining 50% would be paid out over four years, and Harsin’s guarantee is not subject to offset or mitigation.”

Harsin is now 9-10 as Auburn’s head coach.
