Ole Miss was being talked about as a team with the potential to make an SEC Championship run and perhaps even edge its way into the College Football Playoff, but there are questions surrounding that after the Rebels’ humbling 45-20 loss to the LSU Tigers.

After that performance in which the team’s weaknesses on defense were exposed and its quarterback was completely contained by a strong LSU pass rush, college football analyst Desmond Howard included them as a team whose stock fell this week. That’s not surprising considering this was largely expected to be a close game in which the Rebels came out on top of.

Ole Miss is still considered a contender, so long as this performance is a blip on the radar. The Rebels will aim to return to the win column and get back on track as they face the Texas A&M Aggies up next on the schedule on Oct. 29.
