Gary Danielson made a case for Alabama to make the College Football Playoff as the CBS Sports analyst reviewed a checklist on a graphic he debuted during last week’s “SEC on CBS” game that he labeled, “Alabama’s unlikely path to CFP.”

Danielson ticked off a checklist of things from Clemson losing, to Alabama winning the Iron Bowl convincingly, LSU losing and Southern Cal losing. Finally, TCU had to lose 1 of its last 2 games. Of course, all that happened.

“That’s why they’re in the conversation,” Danielson said. “I think now decides what will be the tiebreaker for the committee. Will they go resume, or will they go with that little word that’s always popped up in this decision making, OK. It happened in 2007, 2014, the little word, best. They stuck that word in there, OK. The best 4 teams, so how do you decide it. Is it what you think talent, who’s going to win, the schedule? Does a 2-loss Alabama go over a courageous TCU team that had to play one team twice? A lot of decisions to be made, and it’s really about whether the committee goes with best or resume.”

Danielson added that he thinks Ohio State is in.

“If it’s resume, I think it’s TCU with the courageous season they had is going to get in,” he said. “If it’s best, just look at Alabama and say, ‘They’re one of the best 4 teams.”
