Arkansas needs to take 2 off of TCU on Monday to advance out of the Fayetteville Regional and into the Supers.

It’s a daunting proposition. The Horned Frogs tore the Hogs apart in their first meeting on Sunday, plating 20 runs. And it’s a task made even more difficult by a pitching situation coach Dave Van Horn described Sunday night as bleak.

“It’s not good,” he said. “I don’t know who we are going to pitch. Sometimes I know and I just don’t tell you, but I don’t know.”

Arkansas began Sunday with its most lopsided loss ever in a postseason game, suffering a 20-5 defeat. The Hogs hit 4 home runs, but that output was nearly matched by TCU’s Tre Richardson, who had a 3-homer, 11-RBI performance.

Hagen Smith started the game against TCU but lasted just an inning and gave up 8 earned. Zack Morris, Austin Ledbetter, and Ben Bybee all pitched on the day. Brady Tygart went a career-long 5 2/3 innings in Arkansas’ 6-4 win over Santa Clara Sunday evening to stave off elimination. Will McEntire threw 2 2/3 innings in relief and then Hunter Hollan drew the final 2 outs of the game to record a save.

Monday’s first game is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET on ESPNU. If the Razorbacks win, first pitch in the winner-take-all game against the Horned Frogs is set for 9 p.m. ET.
