OFFENSE: A

Once again, Georgia’s offense came to play in another game without star running back Todd Gurley. Hutson Mason was turnover-free for the second straight week and made some pinpoint passes downfield, indeed showing he’s capable of completing the big plays. And what else can you say about Nick Chubb? The true freshman running back continues to put the UGA offense on his shoulders and taking it all over the field. He surpassed his former career-best game with a 212-yard performance last night and punched it in twice for the Bulldogs. The offense as a whole was incredibly efficient and most importantly did not turnover the football. Aside from some lulls in the second half, there’s a lot to like from this offensive unit, even without Gurley.

DEFENSE: A-

Talk about setting a tone…UGA’s defense did that again for the second week in a row. It was a slow start to the game as Arkansas scored on its opening drive, but there wasn’t much else there for the Razorbacks in that first half. Georgia perfectly played Arkansas’ play-action plays and did a great job of forcing pressure on Brandon Allen and eventually forced turnovers as a result. Jordan Jenkins’ strip sack and subsequent 54-yard return by Dominick Sanders essentially put the nail in the coffin on this game at the end of the second quarter. The pressure by the front-seven was especially impressive considering how successful and physical Arkansas’ offensive line has been this season. The speed of Jeremy Pruitt’s 3-4 defense really shined tonight. I’m sure UGA fans would have like to see a more lockdown second half performance, but in the end UGA’s defense sent a message tonight.

SPECIAL TEAMS: B

Georgia’s special teams get an average grade after last night’s performance. Kicker Marshall Morgan did his job, nailing all of his PATs and the lone field goal attempt from 37 yards out. Punters Adam Erickson and Collin Barber had a pretty quiet game and the kick return game did nothing special. Frankly, there wasn’t any negatives from this unit, but nothing spectacular to merit an above average grade.

COACHING: A-

Mark Richt and his coaching staff continue to impress. Georgia is easily playing its best football of the season and all of it has been done without the team’s best player in Todd Gurley. It’s clear, especially after these last two weeks, that Georgia is a much more complete team than originally believed. No one expected Georgia to be this good without Gurley and all of the credit should go to Richt and the rest of the coaches.

 OVERALL: A-

There isn’t much not to like about Georgia right now. Georgia went on the road to play the Razorbacks and beat them at their own game. Both sides of the football were physical, fast and efficient. As great as the bye week can be to rest up players, I’m not quite sure fans are thrilled with the timing considering just how well Georgia is playing. Considering the losses by Kentucky and Florida last night, Georgia’s chances of winning the SEC East grow stronger with every passing week. They are the clear and absolute favorite to win the division and deservingly so.
