Alabama athletics is out with a statement after freshman walk-on receiver Antonio Ross, who was listed on the roster as Tonio Ross, was arrested.

“Tonio Ross is no longer part of the program and has been removed from campus.”

A Calhoun County grand jury indicted Ross, Carol Robinson of AL.com reported. Details of the alleged crime were not public as of Tuesday morning, but AL.com reported that the investigation involves a juvenile female victim.

The Weaver Police Department said Ross, 19, was arrested Monday morning and booked into the Calhoun County Jail. He posted a $50,000 bond and was released. Ross was listed as a wide receiver for the Crimson Tide in the 2023 Media Guide. He was originally committed to Liberty before Hugh Freeze departed for Auburn.

Ross, a 6-foot-2, 180-pounder who was also recruited by some schools to play defensive back, was out of Alexandria High School in Alabama, where he was a first-team all-state performer in 2022. Ross was assigned jersey number 44.

He was not listed on the roster from Saturday’s Alabama-Texas game in Tuscaloosa.
