It’s no surprise by now that college football players bring in a ton of revenue for their schools, especially at top programs like Texas and Alabama.

But just how much the average FBS player is worth is pretty surprising, as a chart from Business Insider, which can be seen here, illustrates.

According to Business Insider’s findings, the average player at Texas is worth $666,029 a year to the school and the average player at Alabama is worth $545,357:

(W)e can estimate that the average college football player at the University of Texas is worth $666,029 each year based on the program’s average annual revenue over the last three years of $120.5 million. The average player at Alabama, the top program in the country, is second at $545,357 per year. Overall, the average FBS player is worth $163,087 per year, with the average football team taking in $29.5 million in revenue each year.

Obviously, some programs are bigger and produce more revenue than others, so it would be tough to figure out a model in which players got paid.

However, based on how much they’re making for their schools, it is fair for players to want more than just tuition and food costs for their efforts.
