With the Week 3 slate virtually wrapped up, ESPN pundit Kirk Herbstreit took to Twitter to release his latest top-5 list:

Alabama holds onto the top spot after the thrilling 48-43 victory over Ole Miss. The Crimson Tide get two cupcakes in the next few weeks (Kent State, Kentucky) before going on the road to face a dangerous Arkansas squad.

Ohio State creeps up to the No. 2 spot after its 45-24 pasting of Oklahoma in Norman. The Buckeyes look like the odds-on favorite to not only win the Big Ten, but also represent the conference in the College Football Playoffs.

To no one’s surprise, Louisville makes an appearance within the top 5 after a 63-10 demolishing of the then-No. 2 Florida State Seminoles. Without question, QB Lamar Jackson is atop the leaderboard for the Heisman Trophy.

Stanford polished off Southern Cal by a comfortable 27-10 margin. Led by Christian McCaffrey, the Cardinal appear to yet again be the class of the Pac-12.

Clemson rolls in as the last team within the top 5 — after beating South Carolina State by a score of 59-0. After starting the first two weeks a bit slow, the Tigers may have found their stride after feasting on this tasty in-state cupcake.
