Eyabi Okie is familiar with, and quite popular in, the transfer portal.

Okie is a Michigan edge who entered the transfer portal for a 4th time this week, according to multiple reports including the Detroit Free Press, as the Baltimore native previously had stints at Alabama, Houston and UT Martin. Okie finished the 2022 season with nine tackles (3.5 for loss) and 2.5 sacks in nine games. Okie was suspended by Alabama and entered the transfer portal before the 2019 season.

The Free Press reported his season this way: But while he flashed in victories over Iowa and Nebraska, Okie never established himself as a consistent producer this past fall. He logged only 30 snaps more than twice while contributing four sacks. Because of his deficiencies in run defense and pass coverage, Okie was seen as a one-dimensional player who couldn’t be deployed on a down-to-down basis.

Okie was the No. 4 player nationally in the 247 Sports Composite when he signed with Alabama in December, 2017. He played in 12 games as a freshman in 2018, and earned All-Freshman SEC honors after he made 2 tackles for a loss.
