Dalvin Tomlinson is one step closer to becoming the next great NFL defender from Alabama. After being selected by the Giants in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft, with the No. 55 overall pick, New York has signed Tomlinson to his first NFL contract.

Terms of the deal have yet to be released. Sports management agency SportsTrust Advisors confirmed the signing while noting his status as one of the team’s potential rookie impact players, according to Giants’ team writer Michael Eisen.

Alabama had 10 players selected in the latest NFL draft. Tomlinson was the seventh former Crimson Tide player to come off the board and the fourth defender.
