As the 2020 NFL season approaches, the Miami Dolphins will have a difficult decision to make at quarterback.

Should they go with veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick or rookie Tua Tagovailoa, the No. 5 overall pick out of Alabama?

On Tuesday, former NFL executive Charley Casserly said on “NFL Now” that he thinks Miami OC Chan Gailey will be able to adjust quickly to Tua’s skill set (via 247Sports):

“I’ll tell you what, 10 years ago I had a conversation with Chan Gailey and he was prophetic in his words to me,” Casserly said. “He said, ‘there’s going to come a time where this switches.’ The college offense is going to be coached by pro coaches because there’s not enough time to teach them the pro offense. He’s right. So he’ll easily adapt to what Tua does well. Quick release. Play fast. Talk about RPOs and excellent anticipation.”

That doesn’t necessarily mean the Dolphins will start Tua in Week 1. However, when he is ready to take the reins, Casserly thinks Gailey will have a solid system in place for Tagovailoa.
