If Alabama beats Georgia, some believe the SEC could not be represented in the College Football Playoff. Former Alabama player and current ESPN college football analyst Greg McElroy doesn’t buy it.

“Oh my goodness, the world is about to implode if in fact that comes down, because the SEC universally has performed so well,” McElroy  said on Friday during ESPN’s Get Up. “I think it’s the strongest league top to bottom. I think it’s the league with the best players.”

“I think it’s the league that has the most NFL draft picks and when you’re playing against pros as we’ve learned of the NCAA tournament in the past when you play pros, you have chances to win big games and if you look at the dominance on display by the SEC dating back to the BCS era,” McElroy added.

“It’s pretty one-sided over just about everybody else, so I think the reaction would be very strong and rightfully so given the way the teams have performed in the past on the highest levels of the sport.”

Georgia could close the conversation with a win over Alabama, but the Tide could still make it in amid a slew of 1-loss powerhouse teams and a few unbeatens.
