Jalen Milroe responds to trash talk from Demarcus Riddick: ‘I don’t even know who that is’
Jalen Milroe had a simple response for some bold comments made by an Auburn linebacker earlier this week.
This could very well be Milroe’s last Iron Bowl, if the junior decides to go pro next spring. And it’s the first Iron Bowl for Auburn’s bombastic freshman linebacker, Demarcus Riddick, who wasn’t shy about telling the world Monday what he believes the Tigers will do this Saturday and while he’s on The Plains.
“Bama is a big rival team,” Riddick said Monday. “Every rival team I’ve played, I never lost to. And I will not lose to Bama while I’m here.”
Riddick also had a prediction for how Auburn will contain Milroe this week.
“He’s a good quarterback, he’s fast,” Riddick said of Milroe. “But, I mean, he’s not faster than me … He will not get out of that box this week.”
Big, bold words from someone who just stepped onto the SEC stage this fall. Now, Riddick is having a nice first season for resurgent Auburn, with 25 tackles — 17 of them solo — and 3 sacks. But he doesn’t have nearly the pedigree of Milroe, who despite his recent struggles has accomplished a whole lot at Alabama.
And Milroe brushed aside Riddick’s comments like he hopes to brush aside Riddick’s tackle attempts on Saturday.
“I don’t even know who that is … let him talk,” Milroe shot back to reporters on Tuesday.
