The Detroit Lions made a big trade to move up to the 12th overall selection in the 2022 NFL Draft.

The Lions already had the 2nd-overall pick, which they used to select Michigan defensive end Aidan Hutchinson. They were scheduled to hold the final pick of the 1st round, originally obtained during their trade of Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams for Jared Goff. However, they’d trade that selection, along with the 34th and 66th pick, to the Vikings for the 12th and 46 picks.

And that 12th pick was used to provide a weapon in the receiving corps for Goff as Detroit took Alabama wide receiver Jameson Williams. Williams was electric for the Crimson Tide in his lone season in Tuscaloosa after 2 years at Ohio State, making 79 catches for 1,572 yards and 15 touchdowns before suffering an ACL tear in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game against Georgia.

Now, Williams’ next stop is Detroit, and a franchise looking for its first playoff appearance since 2016. Here’s how social media reacted:
