Less than a week after reports surfaced that Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin was tabbed to become Houston’s next head coach, new reports have appeared stating that Kiffin is heading to FAU.
With many believing Kiffin would either choose to remain at Alabama, if that option was available, or become the next offensive coordinator at LSU, this news is a bit shocking.
Kiffin will get the opportunity to prove he can be a successful head coach, but the news left Twitter a little surprised.
Kiffin was truly desperate for a head coaching gig. Really had not had many inquiries at all since going to Alabama.

Yes he is leaving Alabama for Florida Atlantic HC job.— Carl Dukes (@putemupcdukes) December 12, 2016
Interesting times in the state of FL: Programs outside Big 3 hired guys who last HCed at Miami (Butch), Texas (Charlie) & USC (Lane Kiffin).

Lot of people saying bad move for Kiffin, but most coaches willing to bet on selves rather than stick around as coordinators. Latest example

In-state recruiting b/w Jim McElwain, Jimbo Fisher, Mark Richt, Charlie Strong, Butch Davis, Scott Frost & Lane Kiffin will be epic

No disrespect meant by this (to FAU), but going from Alabama to FAU is going to be, well, different.

Living in Boca, getting paid decent $$, taking over a D-1 program w/essentially zero expectations. This ain't bad, Big Picture-wise.
