Nick Saban jokes about ‘real advantage’ Kalen DeBoer had taking over as Alabama HC

Nick Saban sees a “real advantage” that new Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer has in taking over the Crimson Tide program — a subject he dove into when the two spoke on College Gameday ahead of Alabama vs. Georgia.
“The real advantage you had is that they were really tired of my ass,” Saban joked.
Saban took Alabama to new heights and is heralded as perhaps the greatest college football head coach of all time, but it seems he chose the right time to retire as Alabama seemed to be slipping away from its former status as the sport’s dynasty team toward the end of his career.

DeBoer has a chance to restore the Crimson Tide to that level of glory once more, and is on the right track to doing so with an undefeated record and quarterback Jalen Milroe picking up right where he left off when he emerged as a late Heisman Trophy candidate last season.
Whether or not the team is able to stay on the same trajectory as it faces the No. 4-ranked Georgia Bulldogs in Tuscaloosa remains to be seen. Georgia and Alabama are set for a 6:30 p.m. CT kickoff Saturday night.
