Nick Saban will guide Alabama against visiting LSU this weekend in a massive primetime matchup on CBS.
Throughout the years under Saban, Alabama has been a staple on the network. However, with the SEC transitioning away from CBS after this season in favor of ESPN/ABC, Saban fondly reflects on the relationship.
“Well, we have a great relationship with the folks at CBS. I think CBS has been great for the SEC. I think back in the day, we were like the first conference that had our own network,” Saban said during a recent press conference. “So we had nationally televised games when most other conferences were regionally televised.”
Saban added that the entire conference benefited from the exposure on the national channel. The annual Alabama-LSU game has drawn huge ratings during Saban’s tenure.
“I think that really was helpful to the growth and development of the SEC as a whole, and I think that this game is primetime because they have a great team, we usually have a pretty good team and it usually has significant consequences for what’s going to happen relative to the West and who has a chance to — no different this year in terms of who has a chance to maybe win this side of it,” Saban said.
Saban will aim to avoid a second consecutive loss against LSU for the first time since 2010-11. LSU at Alabama is set for 7:45 p.m. EST.
