Alabama redshirt freshman outside linebacker Kevin Harris, a former 4-star recruit out of the Atlanta area, reportedly submitted his name to the NCAA transfer portal on Friday.

It appears that he might have his eyes set on playing closer to home, based on further details released on Friday evening. AL.com’s Matt Zenitz, who was first with the news of Harris’s departure, tweeted that Georgia Tech could be a “possible transfer destination”, putting him just minutes from his Loganville, Ga. home with a chance to work himself into the lineup in Geoff Collins’ defense.

The potential for playing time just minutes from his hometown would be an obvious draw for Harris, who committed to the Crimson Tide out of the high school class of 2019 but never saw the field. According to the 247Sports Composite, he was a 4-star recruit, ranked as the No. 15 player in the state of Georgia and listed as the No. 5 weakside defensive end in the country before transitioning to play linebacker upon his arrival in Tuscaloosa.
