Sam Acho was lost for words after the Auburn Tigers blew the game against the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday.
Facing a 4th down and 31, Jalen Milroe completed a pass to Isaiah Bond in the back of the end zone. The score gave the Tide a 27-24 victory.
When asked for his thoughts on the game, Acho said he was “almost speechless.”
Acho explained that Auburn’s late-game play left him lost for words.
“Not because of that play alone, but because of the muffed point after your defense makes a huge stop,” Acho explained. The Tide ended up getting 19 yards on 3rd and 20 and then converted on the 4th and 1. Then, the Tide were faced with a 3rd and goal from the 26. After Jalen Milroe was penalized, the Tide had a 4th and Goal from the 31.
“There was only a 3-man rush,” Acho explained. “That means you have 7 or 8 guys out in coverage. You should have every one of those receivers double-teamed and they didn’t.”
The Tide finished the regular season with an 11-1 record and will next face the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship. The Tigers, meanwhile, will end Hugh Freeze’s 1st season with a 6-6 record and head to a bowl game.
