SEC Network’s Matt Stinchcomb gives Nick Saban the only birthday treat he’d accept

By now, it’s fairly well known around the SEC that Alabama coach Nick Saban’s birthday is Oct. 31. Another famous Saban-ism is that the coach loves Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pies, and has been known to eat two every day.
So it was not much of a surprise when Matt Stinchcomb of the SEC Network stopped during a segment on “SEC Film Room” to give Saban a birthday gift, which was the Oatmeal Creme Pies. Stinchcomb added that he figured Saban might enjoy this treat as much as a “fourth quarter complete victory with focus from the players, et cetera.”
“Those aren’t the mini Oatmeal Creme Pies, that are the big ones, the old-school ones, it’s kind of a throwback,” Stinchcomb said.
Stinchcomb asked Saban if he would dress up with his granddaughter and participate, and Saban said, “they don’t have Halloween like we used to. They kind of choreograph it.”
And of course, Saban quickly returned to business.
“We’re going to have practice on Thursday,” he said, and actually let down his guard a bit. “These are the only sweets that I would eat, so good enough for me.”
