Mac Jones’ stock has been surging in the lead-up to the 2021 NFL Draft. Don’t expect the Heisman finalist’s hype to quiet down any time soon with comparisons being made to Tom Brady.

The comparison comes from Jones’ former teammate, Tua Tagovailoa. Eric Edholm of Yahoo Sports interviews the Miami Dolphins quarterback, asking for a scouting report on his former Alabama backup.

“He’s a sly kind of athletic person. He’s a more mobile Tom Brady,” Tagovailoa said. “He’s very athletic, I would say. He’s very smart, too. Not just on the field, he’s smart off the field as well.”

Tagovailoa continued that Jones is a great person to be around, adding, “Whatever team gets him, they’re going to be very lucky.”

The comparison comes as Tom Brady’s former team is expected to be drafting a quarterback. The New England Patriots went 7-9, missing the playoffs while Brady led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the Super Bowl. New England holds the No. 15 overall pick.

Mel Kiper recently predicted that the Patriots will trade into the top 10 to take a QB. His mock draft has Bill Belichick’s team selecting Trey Lance at No. 9, with Jones going No. 8 to the Panthers.

It will be interesting to see where Jones lands and if it involves a trade.
