Freshman QB Tua Tagovailoa is the talk of Tuscaloosa right now after leading Alabama to a thrilling come-from-behind victory in Monday night’s National Championship Game.

The freshman threw for three touchdowns in the second half and overtime against Georgia, turning in an incredible performance on the biggest stage.

However, legendary NFL WR Terrell Owens wasn’t surprised by Tagovailoa’s success. As you can see in the video below, shared by @B_Kamerman on Twitter, TO said he knew the young Hawaiian was going to be a star when he was running routes with him over the summer:

“It didn’t surprise me,” he said. “I took my two nephews and my son to an Alabama camp this summer. I stayed back and I ran routes with (Jerry) Jeudy, (Calvin) Ridley and a bunch of the guys. Tua threw to us. I’ve never seen anything like it. After running routes with him, I knew he was the real deal.”

That is some high praise from TO, who is second in NFL history in receiving yards, behind only Jerry Rice.

What’s next for Tagovailoa? Based on Monday’s performance, the sky’s the limit for the young phenom.
