Earlier in the week, Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema teased the addition of a ‘blockbuster opponent’ to the schedule. Well, the school just announced it will travel to Colorado State for the 2018 season.

Arkansas is already scheduled to play Colorado State in 2019 and now has an official home-and-home series with the Rams on the books. This game was added to the school’s future schedule so late due to Michigan pulling out of the planned 2018, 2019 home-and-home series with the Razorbacks last summer.

Considering the bind Michigan put the Razorbacks in, the SEC has granted a waiver to Arkansas allowing the school to count Colorado State as a Power 5 opponent — as each SEC school is now required to schedule at least one non-conference game against a Power 5 school.

The Razorbacks’ 2018 non-conference schedule looks to be booked up, as Eastern Illinois, North Texas, and Tulsa are all lined up as the team’s opponents outside of the SEC.

Let’s hope this wasn’t what Bielema had in mind and there’s more to come in order to qualify as a ‘blockbuster opponent’ for the Razorbacks.
