Arkansas is back in a bowl game in 2024 after going 4-8 in 2023. And the Razorbacks learned their postseason destination on Sunday: they’ll face the Big 12’s Texas Tech, a former Southwest Conference foe, in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl on Dec. 27.
Arkansas didn’t play to its full potential in 2024, but it did go 6-6 to claim a place in the postseason. After a 3-1 start, they went just 3-5 the rest of the way.
Now, the Razorbacks will make the trip to Memphis to take on the Red Raiders, who went 8-4 in Joey McGuire’s third season. They went 4-1 in their first five games but lost three of their next four, recovering to win their final two games.
This will be the Razorbacks’ seventh appearance in the Liberty Bowl, the most by any team. Their last time there was in 2022 as they won a wild 55-53 triple-overtime contest against Kansas to improve to 3-3 all-time in the bowl game.
As for Texas Tech, it’s played in the Liberty Bowl just one other time. In 2021, the Red Raiders defeated Mississippi State 34-7.
Arkansas-Texas Tech was an annual SWC game at one point, but that ended when the Razorbacks left for the SEC. Their last meeting was in 2014.
Kickoff from Liberty Stadium in Memphis is set for 7 p.m. ET on Dec. 27. The game will be televised on ESPN.
