Roberts, 55, has been in coaching since 1990. From 2007-11 he was head coach of Division II program Delta State, posting a 47-16 record. In 2012, Roberts took the head coaching job at FCS program Southeastern Louisiana, a position he held through 2017. Roberts was 42-29 in his Southeastern Louisiana tenure.
Roberts was Louisiana’s defensive coordinator for the 2018 and ’19 seasons before departing to join Dave Aranda’s Baylor staff in 2020. He was let go after the completion of the 2022 regular season.
Baylor is 6-6 in 2022 and will face Air Force in the Armed Forces Bowl. In Football Outsiders’ FEI efficiency rankings, the Bears had the No. 47 defense in 2022.
