De’Jon Harris is getting another opportunity in the NFL and will look to work his way onto a roster.

On Tuesday, the Washington Football Team announced that it has signed Harris, a former Arkansas linebacker, to its practice squad. Harris hadn’t been with a team since getting released by the Green Bay Packers at the end of the preseason.

Harris played at Arkansas from 2016-19 and had 371 tackles in 45 games over 4 seasons. However, he didn’t get selected during the 2020 NFL Draft, signing with the New England Patriots shortly after.

The Patriots waived Harris during their final roster cuts ahead of the 2020 campaign, and he then was signed to the Packers’ practice squad before the season began. He was part of Green Bay’s active roster twice, but he only appeared on special teams and didn’t record any stats.

Now, Harris will provide linebacker depth for Washington, which has put both Jon Bostic and Jared Norris on injured reserve this month. If more linebackers get hurt, then perhaps Harris could be elevated to the active roster at some point.
