Saturday, Arkansas fell to 2-3 on the season after an embarrassing 48-22 loss to South Carolina meaning the heat in Fayetteville will only continue to rise for fifth-year head coach Bret Bielema. As popular of a figure as the head Hog may be in the media, even the biggest SEC media icon appears to have turned on Bielema.

During his weekly Monday morning radio appearance on WJOX 94.5 FM program The Opening Drive, SEC Network host Paul Finebaum did not hold back when discussing the mess Arkansas finds itself in at the midway point of the season.

Sitting at 0-2 in the SEC standings, the fourth time the Razorbacks have started 0-2 in conference play in Bielema’s five seasons, things will only get tougher in the coming weeks with games at Alabama and home for Auburn. The Razorbacks opened as nearly a 30-point underdog to the Crimson Tide.

“Arkansas is a total and complete dumpster fire and I don’t know where this program goes from here,” Finebaum said on the air. “I thought they had a chance to go on the road Saturday and maybe steal a win (vs. South Carolina). They didn’t do it. Instead, they look bad in the process. Are you going to solve problems by going on the road in Bryant-Denny Stadium at night after Alabama had a subpar game? That’s a recipe for disaster.”

As for Bielema, Finebaum offered this opinion, “His record is abysmal five years in.”

Finebaum did not have an answer for where this program goes from here, but he believes Razorback Nation has every reason to be upset with the current results coming out of the program.

“Common sense tells you this program has gone in the wrong direction and Arkansas fans have every right to be furious and questioning the leadership of this program,” Finebaum concluded.
