Sam Pittman’s Arkansas Razorbacks are taking home another trophy. Arkansas blew out Missouri 34-17 Friday, snapping a 5-game losing streak to the Tigers in the Battle Line Rivalry.

Early on, the game looked like a low-scoring defensive battle. Arkansas led just 3-0 at the end of the first quarter. The first touchdown of the game was scored at the 5:53 mark of the second quarter. At halftime, it was just a 10-6 game in the Hogs’ favor. The Arkansas offense got going in the second half.

Arkansas outscored Mizzou 14-3 in the third quarter, making it a 24-9 ballgame heading into the final 15:00 minutes. It turned into a full-on blowout in the 4th quarter as Arkansas offensive coordinator Kendal Briles had some fun, calling an option for Treylon Burks, who pitched to Raheim Sanders for a touchdown that made it 34-9 with the extra point.

It was another banner day for Burks (7 catches, 129 yards, TD), who set a program record with another 100-yard outing while going over 1,000 yards for the season. Arkansas QB KJ Jefferson was 15-of-19 passing for 262 and a touchdown while rushing 6 times for 58 yards.

For Mizzou, it was once again the Tyler Badie show on offense. Unfortunately for the Tigers, Badie’s rushing production  (41 carries, 219 yards, TD) did not turn into many touchdowns. Badie scored Mizzou’s first TD at the 1:25 mark in the fourth quarter. Tiger QB Connor Bazelak once again struggled, going 10-of-26 passing for 65 yards and an interception.

In Year 2 under Pittman, Arkansas finishes the regular season with an 8-4 record, including a 3-0 mark in trophy games against Texas A&M, LSU and Mizzou. Pittman’s 2021 squad may add a bowl game trophy to its hardware haul. Bowl game assignments will come after next week’s conference title clashes.

Mizzou will also go bowling at 6-6 in Year 2 under Eli Drinkwitz.
