Arkansas is one of the teams facing shrinking available players ahead of its game this week, which happens to be the Battle for the Golden Boot against LSU.

“No I don’t feel good about COVID,” Pittman said at a press conference on Thursday afternoon, per Pig Trail Nation. “I think everybody is looking for an answer. We are going to play Saturday as of now. We have a test that we took today that gets back tomorrow. I am going to tell you the truth we are running thin.”

Each SEC team must have a minimum of 53 scholarship players, including a quarterback, seven offensive linemen and four defensive linemen.

“As of right now, we’re going to play Saturday,” Pittman added, per Scottie Bordelon. “We’re running thin. We want to play the game. But you have to have adequate numbers to play. If we have a good test tomorrow, by golly, we’re going to play the game.”

Pittman understands the importance of this rivalry game, if nothing else than recruiting. But it’s more than that.

“The Boot, LSU game is a big deal for Arkansas,” Pittman said. “It’s a big deal. We have approached it that way. This has a little extra juice to it. We would love to have the Boot stay here. We know we have a big challenge. We are excited to play on Saturday.”
