Hugh Freeze added a commit from a Liberty transfer on Saturday. The edge rusher posted about the decision on Twitter.

Stephen Sings played football at Liberty last season. He will be joining Freeze at Auburn in 2023.

Sings appeared in 25 games during his time with the Flames. Sings recorded 13 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks in 10 games played in 2022.

As a recruit Sings chose Liberty over Virginia Tech, Auburn, Charlotte, and Coastal Carolina. He was a member of the 2020 class and a former 3-star weak-side DE per the 247Sports Composite.

The Tigers actually offered Sings as a recruit, but it wasn’t enough to convince him to play in the SEC.

It’s not surprising that Sings is following Freeze to Auburn. Freeze accepted the Liberty job in 2018 and left to coach Auburn in November of 2022.

Freeze is familiar with the SEC after coaching at Ole Miss from 2012-2016. Freeze resigned in 2017 after a recruiting scandal and took a break from coaching before accepting the Liberty job a year later.

Auburn moved on from HC Bryan Harsin during the 2022 regular season. Cadillac Williams became the interim coach and led the Tigers to a 2-2 record after earning wins over Texas A&M and Western Kentucky.

Auburn ended the year at 5-7 following a loss to Alabama in the Iron Bowl. Stay tuned for more recruiting updates.
