It’s sure to be an interesting week for 1st-year Auburn offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Mike Bobo.

Not only will he be tasked with preparing the Tigers for what looks to be a historically dominant Georgia defense, he’ll also be going against his alma mater.

Bobo played quarterback for the Bulldogs from 1994-97. He appeared in 38 games for Georgia, passing for 6,334 career yards, 38 touchdowns and 26 interceptions.

The Augusta, Georgia native then began his coaching career in Athens as a grad assistant in 1999 before spending the 2001-14 seasons as a full-time offensive assistant.

Bobo subsequently was named head coach at Colorado State before the 2015 season, and he compiled a 28-35 record in five seasons in Colorado Springs before being relieved of his duties.

On Monday, Auburn coach Bryan Harsin was asked during his weekly press conference about his relationship with Bobo and how the two have collaborated in their first season together.

“I’ve got a lot of respect for him, and I got to compete against him at Boise State when he was at Colorado State,” Harsin said. “… It’s been good to sit in there and have conversations about different play ideas about what’s going to work and what’s going to fit best.”

Auburn’s home game with No. 2 Georgia will kickoff at 3:30 p.m. EST on Saturday and be televised by CBS.
