A notable running back out of Atlanta announced a commitment to Auburn on Sunday.

Damari Alston of Woodward Academy made his announcement with a video on social media. He is the No. 28 running back in the country in the Class of 2022, and the No. 27 player in the state of Georgia, per the 247Sports Composite. He had a reported 53 offers, including LSU and Northwestern as his finalists, and is listed at 5-foot-10 and 205 pounds.

Alston is the latest recruit pickup in a busy month for Bryan Harsin and his staff, but the first running back. Zac Etheridge and Cadillac Williams recruited him.

Alston is the second-highest ranked commit in Auburn’s 2022 class, behind 4-star QB Holden Geriner. Alston is the sixth pickup for Harsin and his staff on the recruiting trail this month, including the fifth for the 2022 cycle, as July has proven to be a busy month.

Adding Alston gives Auburn seven commits in its 2022 class, and the Tigers moved from being ranked 78th nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite team rankings, to 63rd nationally. The Tigers remain 14th in the SEC in the recruiting team rankings.
