The New England Patriots have decided to cut down on the number of former Auburn players in Foxborough. The team released ex-Tigers wide receiver Will Hastings on Sunday.
Hastings was in a group of players cut to trim the New England roster to 80 players as the Patriots and other clubs are set to welcome veterans to training camp on Tuesday.
Unfortunately, the Patriots made the decision on the same day Hastings left to report for camp, according to a post on his Instagram account.
Hastings signed with the Patriots in April as an undrafted free agent. In his Auburn career, he caught 56 passes for 845 yards and 6 touchdowns.
The #Patriots have trimmed their roster to 80 by releasing QBs J’Mar Smith and Brian Lewerke; WRs Isaiah Zuber, Sean Riley, and Will Hastings; LB Kyahva Tezino; DT Courtney Wallace, and Ss Adarius Pickett and Malik Gant, per league source. Story: https://t.co/RHUqQWXKdY
