Why has no one done this before?
On Saturday night against Arkansas, Auburn sideline officials were using a digital down marker, as noted by ESPN’s Holly Rowe:
Loving new invention. Digital down marker. Invented by Auburn. So easy to see on night games Dana Marquez at it again pic.twitter.com/Y6G375DOSg

According to Rowe, credit for the innovative technology goes to Dana Marquez, who, according to his Auburn bio, is the equipment and apparel overseer for the entire university’s athletic programs.
If the Tigers continue using digital down markers at home games, perhaps it’ll quickly catch on throughout the college football world.
