One of Gus Malzahn’s former Auburn quarterbacks is returning to The Plains.

According to Tom Green of AL.com, Barrett Trotter has been hired by the Tigers as an offensive analyst. Trotter saw the field for the Tigers in both the 2010 and 2011 seasons. He served as Cam Newton’s backup during for the undefeated national championship season.

During his collegiate career, Trotter threw for 1,248 yards and 11 touchdowns, while making to the SEC Academic Honor Roll all four years at Auburn. Trotter was an analyst for North Carolina in 2017. He also has experience coaching in the NFL, as a support staff member. He is a native of Birmingham, Ala.
