The Auburn Tigers battled host Georgia Tech (the No. 3 overall seed in the NCAA Baseball Tournament) tough on Saturday night, but they couldn’t have felt good about their chances to win trailing 5-3 in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Complicating matters was the fact that left-handed batter Steven Williams faced an 0-2 count with two outs against a left-handed Georgia Tech pitcher.

However, with two runners on base, Williams got the job done, launching an impressive three-run home run to seal the Tigers’ come-from-behind victory:

Williams’ teammates were understandably thrilled, mobbing Williams as he crossed home plate triumphantly. The Tigers are now 2-0 in the Atlanta regional and are in the regional final.

They may have to beat the Yellow Jackets once again to make it to the super regionals, but this is a team that has plenty of confidence thanks to Williams’ heroic bomb.
