Cam Skattebo had a day to remember in Arizona State’s overtime loss to Texas on Wednesday afternoon at the Peach Bowl.

Skattebo accounted for 143 rushing yards, 99 receiving yards, 2 rushing touchdowns and a 42-yard passing touchdown in the narrow defeat. However, he wasn’t 100% healthy throughout the game.

Per the ESPN broadcast, Skattebo was vomiting on the sidelines during the game. However, no reason for his illness was offered during the game. Still, he was able to close out the game strong — he was responsible for all 3 of Arizona State’s touchdowns in the 4th quarter and overtime.

After the game, Skattebo clarified that his vomiting issue was a matter of drinking too much water.

“I threw up,” Skattebo said. “Had too much water, and it was sloshing around. Threw up and I felt better.”

Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham offered a quip of his own: “Puke and rally.”

While it was certainly a valiant effort for Skattebo, he and the Sun Devils ultimately came up short. ASU’s season is now over while Texas will move on to face either Oregon or Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl on Jan. 10.
