College football games come in all shapes and sizes, with each one being different from the other, no matter the teams, no matter the stakes.
Take Saturday’s Southland Conference battle between Lamar and Northwestern State. Sure, it was an FCS game being played far below the radar of any showcase FBS game on the same day, but this game had something that none of those “big-time” SEC or Big Ten games had on Saturday.
What, exactly, made it so unique?
Well, in Lamar’s 42-10 takedown of Northwestern State, a game in which the Cardinals dominated on the ground with 268 yards rushing and 3 rushing touchdowns, there was one particular running play that caught the eyes of many — and likely made many watching on TV chuckle.
It happened when Damien Moore, a senior transfer from Cal, ran the ball up the middle. Innocent enough, right? Well, not exactly. On the play, Northwestern State junior linebacker Landry Huddleston went to tackle Moore and accidentally ripped off both of Moore’s jersey pants.

Moore got the last laugh, of course, finishing with 5 carries for 46 yards and a big blowout victory. But a lot of people will be talking about this game for that 1 play, which is the beauty of college football.
With the win, Lamar improved to 5-3 while the Demons dropped to 0-9, a record nobody is laughing at.
