As far as college football rivalry games go, it doesn’t get much more intense than Johnson C. Smith vs. Livingstone.
The 2 schools are credited with playing the first ever HBCU game all the way back in 1892, and this weekend’s game might have been the ugliest of them all.
The game was declared a no-contest after a brawl on the sidelines. Then, as you can see below, one of the teams tried to plant its flag at midfield, sparking another round of jawing back and forth:

The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association issued a statement on the ugly scene at the rivalry game:

Per HBCUGameday.com, Livingstone held a 17-3 lead at the time the game was called off, but won’t get credit for the win, as it is now officially a no-contest.
With several players throwing punches, it seems likely that the punishments for this game will continue into future weeks.
