DraftKings Pick6: How to Play
DraftKings Pick6 contests work very similarly to some DFS contests you might have played before. The premise is simple — make between 2 and 6 picks on player stats for a given sport on a given night. Simply pick “more” or “less” and build your entry, or “pick set.”
Here’s what the DraftKings Pick6 app looks like once you sign up and enter the main lobby. You’ll see a number of sports featured, including the NBA, MLB, NHL and PGA Tour. During NFL season, you’ll see football featured front and center:
For this slate, if you think Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic will score 28 or more points, you’d choose the “more” option. If you think he’ll be held to 27 or fewer points, you’d click “less.” Then, to make sure your contest is legitimate, you’d have to choose at least 1 player from a different team and make a pick.
Once you have crafted your contest, all you need to do is choose your entry fee. Every $1 increment you add to your fee gives you another “share” in the contest as you compete for money in the prize pool.
The more picks in your pick set that you get right, the more money you’ll have the opportunity to win. In some contests, you can still win money if you only miss 1 pick. See the section below for details on how payouts work for Pick6.
Note: These Pick6 contests are all “peer-to-peer” contests. Thus, you are playing against other DraftKings users rather than the “house.”
How Does Pick6 Prize Money Work?
Let’s say, hypothetically, I enter a 5-pick NFL contest with $10,000 in total prize money during the upcoming season. If I go 5/5 with my picks, I’ll split the $10,000 prize pool with other users who also go 5/5 with their pick sets.
Some contests also reward users for only missing one pick. In this hypothetical example, it’s possible that users who go 5/5 would split $8,000 in prize money while players who go 4/5 would split the remaining $2,000.
Obviously, the fewer users who make correct picks, the more money you can win. Make sure to check your contest’s rules and prize pool breakdown before you enter.
You’ll see an “Estimated Prizing” section before you enter a contest, but those numbers are not a guarantee.
