Daniel Jones is signing with the Minnesota Vikings, sources told FOX Sports NFL insider Jordan Schultz on Wednesday morning.
The former Duke star, who was released by the New York Giants last week, reportedly had several suitors but wanted to go to a team that was in contention that had an offensive system that was quarterback-friendly and a coaching staff that could maximize his potential.

The Vikings checked off all those boxes for the 27-year-old Jones, who was drafted by the Giants in 2019 to be a franchise quarterback but never lived up to the billing of being the 6th overall pick in that draft.
The Vikings are rolling this season with a 9-2 record, 1 game behind first-place Detroit, despite a quarterback situation that is a bit unsettled. Minnesota drafted JJ McCarthy but lost the former Michigan star to injury in the first preseason game, and while veteran Sam Darnold has held down the fort quite well, he’ll be a free agent after this season.
The market for Darnold would suggest that the Vikings needed some depth behind McCarthy in 2025, so signing Jones gives them that depth going forward and also gives them someone in the short term should Darnold go down this season.
The #Vikings are set to get JJ McCarthy back from injury in 2025. With Sam Darnold scheduled to become a free agent after this season and his market projected to be sky-high, bringing in Daniel Jones provides another option in the short term, and potentially for the long term. https://t.co/D26G4prQgS

Jones started 69 games during his 6 seasons with the Giants. There were bright moments, but things turned ugly this season with the Giants sitting at 2-9 and in last place in the NFC East.
